Violence Prevention

The Wellness Center is committed to reducing violence on campus to make each student's experience at SIU enjoyable and memorable.  Violence is a reality on college campuses across the nation and SIU is taking proactive steps to address violence through its new violence prevention program.  The program is designed to promote education, strategies, and advocacy through presentations, workshops, special events, community service, and group sessions to reduce violence on campus.  Focusing on environmental change, the program addresses factors such as gender violence, harassment, stalking, dating violence, sexual assault, bullying, and injurious attitudes for the purpose of fostering a safe learning atmosphere.

"Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice. Justice at its best is love correcting everything that stands against love." – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
